Owen Roberts International Airport
General Information
This was a unique project, which involved completely renovating and expanding the airport in every direction, whilst ensuring the airport remained open and operational throughout. The new building tripled in size to support an increased volume of traffic from 0.5 million passengers per annum up to 2.6 million.
The new 209,000 SF, state-of-the-art airport, now includes five baggage carousels, x-ray machines and all the additional features today’s passengers have come to expect such as information systems, a shopping mall, restaurants and nine seated gate areas. In addition to improving the passenger areas, the staff areas and offices were upgraded as well as the back-of-house baggage screening areas.
At the end of this successful project, the official opening was held on 27th March 2019 by their Royal Highnesses, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
