British American Centre
General Information
This complex was built in two phases, Phase I consists of a four storey building, using plate slab reinforced concrete construction – the first time that this method has been used in the Cayman Islands. The precise positioning of the reinforced steel is extremely critical to resist the high loading imposed by the natural forces of hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. in the area.
Phase II consists of a two storey building, using similar construction methods but also employing a steel girder roof.
Both buildings are clad in white limestone composite panels with reflective solar glass curtain walling and window frames. Both are fully air conditioned, and Phase I incorporates a high-speed elevator.
